    STOP State Aid Cuts

    March 22, 2024

    Dear Parents and Guardians,

On February 29, 2024, the district received notification of an over $1 million reduction in state aid for the upcoming 2024-2025 school year. This dire decrease has greatly impacted our budget for the coming year. Upon receiving this information, Robert Kraft, School Business Administrator, promptly initiated budget meetings with administration to address this shortfall. We are actively adjusting our proposed budget to accommodate this reduction, in addition to the adjustments already made due to rising health insurance, transportation, and other vendor expenses.

In response to this budgetary challenge, we are collaborating with other area school districts that have also experienced a reduction in state aid, as well as engaging with the New Jersey Department of Education, to explore the possibility of receiving relief.

Despite these fiscal constraints, I want to reassure you that our district is strong, collaborative, and creative and remains steadfast in our commitment to providing exceptional educational services. Our budget priorities remain focused on preserving our outstanding programs, maintaining optimal class sizes, and retaining our talented and dedicated staff. Grounded in our STAR principles, our budget will uphold our longstanding tradition of excellence in education.

While navigating these financial challenges may be daunting, I am confident that with your continued support and our collective resilience, we will overcome these obstacles and emerge stronger as a community.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation during this time.

    Sincerely,

    Colleen Murray, Ed.D.

    Superintendent
