Sudden Cardiac Arrest Screening on 5/11

Dear Lumberton Parents and Guardians,

On Saturday, May 11, 2019 from 9:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m., at 200 Trenton Road, Browns Mills, NJ, Deborah Heart and Lung Center is hosting a no-cost Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA) screening for adolescents between the ages of 12 and 19 years old.

According to the American Heart Association, SCA, the result of an undetected and undiagnosed heart abnormality, is the number one cause of adolescent death in the U.S. It can happen before the age of 20, and often strikes healthy teenagers with no prior warning or symptoms.

The Sudden Cardiac Arrest screening, sponsored by Deborah Hospital Foundation, is offered at no cost, and includes:

*Blood pressure, height and weight

*Heart auscultation (listening for a heart murmur)

*Electrocardiogram (ECG)

*If needed, an Echocardiogram (ultrasonic heart imaging)

Confidential results will be delivered to each paent – or directly to the student if they are over the age of 18 years – before they leave, after review by one of Deborah Heart and Lung Center’s board certified Cardiologists. All screenings are scheduled by appointment, so there is no downtime waiting. The entire process typically takes less than one hour to complete.

Please see the ATTAHCED FLYER for more information and instructions to register on-line.

Thank you,

Lumberton Township School District
