Dear Lumberton Parents, Guardians and Staff Members,
As you know, Lumberton Township School District has received a significant reduction in state aid funding, which is set to continue for the next five years. As such, we have joined more than 70 New Jersey public school districts as well as numerous pro-public education advocacy groups in an effort to urge the State to revise the state funding formula to ensure that no New Jersey public school student is denied any educational opportunity. To date, we have sent letters, joined a rally in Trenton on March 5th, and the Superintendent and a Board Member testified at both the NJ Assembly Budget Hearings. In addition, our Superintendent provided testimony at the NJ Senate Budget Hearings as well.
On April 30th the Lumberton Township School District, along with numerous public school districts across New Jersey, will be sending a contingent back to Trenton to continue our protest of the state aid funding cuts. There is strength in numbers, so if your schedule permits and you are able to join us , please rsvp to Suzanne May at firstname.lastname@example.org or 609-267-1406, ext. 6614. We will be departing from the Ashbrook Elementary School parking lot at 7:45 a.m. and will return by 1:00 p.m.
