Curriculum Overview and Identification

At Lumberton Township School District (LTSD), our Gifted & Talented program provides students with opportunities to think deeply, explore their interests, and apply their learning in meaningful ways. Using Defined Learning as our core instructional resource, students engage in project-based learning experiences centered on authentic, real-world challenges. These experiences encourage students to ask questions, investigate problems, develop creative solutions, and share their thinking with others. Through this approach, LTSD fosters critical thinking, creativity, collaboration, communication, and problem-solving while empowering gifted learners to take ownership of their learning and challenge themselves in new and exciting ways.

Student eligibility is determined using multiple measures, including: parent/teacher recommendations, district benchmark testing, standardized testing results, cognitive ability assessment results, and classroom performance data. The data is then normalized by grade-level.
